Assesse

Assesse is a municipality located in the province of Namur in the Wallonia region of Belgium. It is situated in the heart of the Ardennes plateau, a region known for its rolling hills, forests, and agricultural landscapes. The municipality was formed in 1977 through the fusion of several smaller entities, including Assesse itself, Crupet, Gesves, Mozet, and Sorée.

The area around Assesse has a long history, with evidence of human settlement dating back to prehistoric times. The region was part of various historical territories, including the Prince-Bishopric of Liège. The village of Assesse itself has a medieval church, Saint-Remacle, which bears witness to its past.
