Argininitähteisiin refers to a phenomenon observed in certain biological contexts, specifically related to protein degradation. It describes the observation that proteins with an arginine residue at their N-terminus are preferentially degraded by the cellular machinery, particularly the N-end rule pathway. This pathway is a major cellular mechanism for regulating protein turnover and is crucial for maintaining cellular homeostasis.

The N-end rule pathway targets proteins for degradation based on the identity of their N-terminal amino acid. Amino acids are classified as either stabilizing or destabilizing.
