Arcul

Arcul is a town and regional center in the fictional country of Valoria. Located in the northern Valorian plains along the Arcul River, it sits at an elevation of about 320 meters and covers approximately 23 square kilometers. The name Arcul derives from the Valorian word arcus, meaning "arch," a reference to the town's historic stone arches that span the old market district.

Founded in the 12th century by builders and merchants, Arcul developed around a bridge that connected north-south trade routes. It remained a market town through the medieval period and later expanded with the introduction of milling and craft workshops. The arrival of the railway in the 19th century spurred industrial growth and population increase, though the town preserved much of its historic core.

Today, Arcul has a population around 12,000. The economy combines agriculture—primarily vineyards and grain—with light manufacturing and services. The town hosts small-scale enterprises in woodworking and metalwork, and tourism focused on its historic arches and riverside scenery.

Arcul contains several cultural and educational institutions, including the Arcul University of Technology and Arts, a municipal theater, and a regional museum. Notable landmarks include the Arcul Bridge, the Market Hall, and the Cathedral of Saint Elian. The town operates under a mayor-council government and participates in broader regional planning within Valoria.
