Arcflashiales
Arcflashiales is a class of fungi within the phylum Ascomycota. This class is characterized by its members producing ascospores, which are spores contained within sac-like structures called asci. The class is further divided into two subclasses: Eurotiomycetes and Laboulbeniomycetes. Eurotiomycetes includes a wide range of fungi, such as yeasts and molds, that are commonly found in soil, water, and on plants. Laboulbeniomycetes, on the other hand, are obligate parasites that infect arthropods, including insects and mites. Arcflashiales is named after the genus Arcflashia, which was originally described in this class. However, molecular phylogenetic studies have shown that Arcflashia is not a member of Arcflashiales, and the class name has been retained for historical reasons. The taxonomy of Arcflashiales is still an active area of research, with ongoing studies aimed at clarifying the relationships between its members and other fungi.
