Apicurio

Apicurio is an open-source platform for API design and governance that provides tools to design, publish, and manage APIs across an organization. The platform centers on two main components: Apicurio Studio, a web-based editor for creating and collaborating on API specifications, and Apicurio Registry, a centralized registry for API artifacts and governance rules.

Apicurio Studio offers a browser-based editing experience for API specifications written in OpenAPI and AsyncAPI, with features such as schema validation, linting, versioning hints, and collaborative editing workflows. It supports importing and exporting specifications and can generate client or server code in supported ecosystems, depending on integrations.

Apicurio Registry stores API artifacts and supports versioning, tagging, and compatibility checks to enforce governance policies. It can house multiple artifact types, including OpenAPI, AsyncAPI, Avro, and Protobuf schemas, and exposes REST APIs and connectors for integration with CI/CD pipelines, API gateways, and microservices platforms. The project is designed for cloud-native deployment and can be run on-premises or in the cloud, typically as containerized services on Docker or Kubernetes.
