Antischaumstoffen
Antischaumstoffe, also known as defoamers or antifoams, are chemical additives used to prevent or break down foam in liquids. Foam is the dispersion of a gas in a liquid, and while sometimes desirable, it can cause significant problems in industrial processes, such as reducing equipment efficiency, causing overflow, and hindering product quality. Antischaumstoffe work by reducing the surface tension of the liquid or by destabilizing the foam lamellae, the thin liquid films that form the bubble walls.
The effectiveness of an antischaumstoff depends on its ability to spread rapidly at the air-liquid interface
Antischaumstoffe are employed across a wide range of industries. In the food and beverage industry, they are
