Anteating

Anteating refers to the behavior of consuming ants. This is a specific feeding strategy observed in various animal species. Animals that anteat, often called anteaters, have evolved specialized adaptations to facilitate this diet. These adaptations typically include long, sticky tongues to extract ants from their nests and strong claws for digging into ant mounds. The primary food source for true anteaters, which belong to the suborder Vermilingua, are ants and termites. Other animals, such as aardvarks, some species of pangolins, and even certain birds and reptiles, also engage in anteating to some extent, though their primary diets may be broader.
