Anteating
Anteating refers to the behavior of consuming ants. This is a specific feeding strategy observed in various animal species. Animals that anteat, often called anteaters, have evolved specialized adaptations to facilitate this diet. These adaptations typically include long, sticky tongues to extract ants from their nests and strong claws for digging into ant mounds. Their digestive systems are also adapted to process the chitinous exoskeletons of ants.
The primary food source for true anteaters, which belong to the suborder Vermilingua, are ants and termites.
