Angis

Angis is a term that appears in Malay and Indonesian as a verb meaning to cry. In standard Indonesian, the common verb for crying is menangis; angis tends to be found in older Malay texts, regional varieties, or literary uses where it functions as a synonym or base form of crying. In such contexts, it can be used with the same sense as to cry or to shed tears, but it is not part of everyday modern Indonesian vocabulary.

The word is primarily of linguistic interest and does not denote a widely recognized concept, organization, or cultural movement in mainstream sources. Because Malay and Indonesian have similar vocabularies but different modern usage patterns, angis is less common in contemporary standard Malay compared with menangis.
