Amran

Amran, Arabic عمران, is a city in Yemen and the capital of Amran Governorate. It is located in the western highlands of the country, north of the capital Sana'a, on elevated terrain near the Amran plain. As the administrative center of the governorate, Amran hosts provincial government offices and serves as a commercial hub for surrounding rural communities.

Geography and economy: The surrounding region is primarily agrarian; crops include cereals and qat, supported by rainfall and irrigation networks in the highlands. The city functions as a market town for the northwest highlands and provides basic services to residents and traders.
