Amoll

AMoll is the designation used in German-language notation for the musical key A minor. In many scores and educational materials it appears as A-Moll or A Moll; some digital tools compress the name into 'AMoll' for compact labeling. The term itself is not a separate key but the same pitch collection as the English 'A minor'.

A minor is the relative minor of C major and shares the same no-sharp, no-flat key signature in its natural form. The natural minor scale on A runs A-B-C-D-E-F-G-A. In harmonic minor, the seventh degree is raised (G#) to produce A-B-C-D-E-F-G#-A, which strengthens the dominant chord (E major) and cadences. In melodic minor, ascending form raises both the sixth and seventh degrees (F# and G#), while descending returns to the natural minor form (A-G-F-E-D-C-B-A).

Common chords in AMoll include i (A minor), iv (D minor), and V (E major or E7 when using harmonic minor). The key is associated with a somber or contemplative mood but is highly versatile across classical, folk, and contemporary genres. Its relative major is C major, linked by shared pitch content but different tonal center.
