Amfortas

Amfortas is a fictional character from Richard Wagner's opera Parsifal. He is the king and guardian of the Holy Grail, a sacred artifact that possesses immense power and bestows eternal life. Amfortas is plagued by a grievous wound, inflicted by the sorcerer Klingsor, which never heals and causes him constant suffering. This wound is both physical and spiritual, a consequence of his succumbing to temptation and losing the spear of Longinus, another sacred relic.
