Alküülrühmadel

Alküülrühmadel refers to alkyl groups in Estonian. An alkyl group is a functional group of an organic chemical that contains only carbon and hydrogen atoms, arranged in a chain. It is a part of an alkane molecule that is missing one hydrogen atom. For example, if you remove one hydrogen atom from methane (CH4), you get a methyl group (CH3-). Removing one hydrogen from ethane (C2H6) results in an ethyl group (C2H5-).

Alkyl groups are generally saturated, meaning they contain only single bonds between carbon atoms. They are characterized by the general formula CnH2n+1, where 'n' represents the number of carbon atoms. The name of an alkyl group is derived from the alkane from which it is formed by changing the suffix "-ane" to "-yl".
