Alküülivaatsed refers to a class of chemical compounds characterized by the presence of an alkyl group directly attached to a sulfur atom. These compounds are also known as alkyl thioethers or sulfides. The general formula for a simple alkyl thioether is R-S-R', where R and R' represent alkyl groups, which can be the same or different. The sulfur atom in these molecules typically exhibits a bent geometry.

Alkyl thioethers are formed through various synthetic routes, often involving the reaction of an alkyl halide with a thiol or a thiolate salt.
