Albarracín

Albarracín is a municipality and a mountain village located in the Sierra de Albarracín, within the province of Teruel, Aragon, Spain. It is renowned for its exceptionally well-preserved medieval architecture and its strategic location atop a rocky promontory. The village is surrounded by a fortified wall, which traces the contours of the hill.

Historically, Albarracín was a Taifa kingdom, an independent Muslim state in the Iberian Peninsula, during the 11th century. It later fell under Christian rule and experienced periods of prosperity and decline. Its unique architectural style, characterized by reddish hues of its buildings, narrow winding streets, and overhanging wooden balconies, is a testament to its varied past.

The village is a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors with its picturesque beauty and historical significance. Key landmarks include the Alcázar de Albarracín, the Cathedral of the Savior, and the remains of the old walls.
