Alanyához

Alanyához is a Hungarian grammatical form meaning “to the subject.” It is formed from the noun alany, which denotes the subject or agent in a clause, combined with the possessive suffix -a to indicate “the subject’s” and the allative suffix -hoz, which marks direction toward something, here the subject. The resulting form alanyához expresses movement toward or address to the owner of the subject and follows usual vowel-harmony rules, with variants -hoz, -hez, or -höz as appropriate.

Morphologically, alanyához can be analyzed as a possessed noun phrase (alanya, “the subject’s”) followed by the allative marker -hoz. This construction is used when the discourse needs to emphasize whom the action or reference is directed at, specifically the subject belonging to someone or discussed in relation to that subject.
