AlAqsamoskeija
AlAqsamoskeija is an Arabic term that translates to "Al-Aqsa Mosque." It refers to a significant religious complex located in Jerusalem's Old City. This sacred site is believed by Muslims to be the location of the Prophet Muhammad's miraculous night journey, known as the Isra and Mi'raj. The Al-Aqsa Mosque itself is the larger of the two buildings within the complex, though the entire area, including the Dome of the Rock, is often referred to collectively as Al-Aqsa. The complex is situated on the Haram al-Sharif, also known as the Temple Mount to Jews. It is one of the holiest sites in Islam, ranking third only to the Kaaba in Mecca and the Prophet's Mosque in Medina. The history of the Al-Aqsa Mosque is extensive, with its current structure dating primarily from the Umayyad period in the 8th century CE, though earlier constructions are documented. The site has been a focal point of religious and political significance for centuries and is a place of pilgrimage and worship for Muslims worldwide.
