Akunin

Akunin refers to the pseudonym of Grigori Chkhartishvili, a Russian writer and literary translator. He is most widely known for his series of historical detective novels featuring Erast Fandorin, a fictional Russian detective in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These novels have achieved significant popularity in Russia and internationally, blending historical detail with engaging mystery plots.

Born in the Soviet Union, Chkhartishvili initially worked in literary criticism before turning to fiction writing. The Fandorin series began with "The Winter Queen" (original Russian title: "Азазель") in 1998. Beyond the Fandorin novels, Akunin has also written other book series under different pseudonyms, including the "Pelagia" series, which is also set in imperial Russia, and the "Nicholas Fandorin" series, featuring the grandson of Erast Fandorin.
