Aksonipäätte
Aksonipäätte, also known as terminal boutons or synaptic terminals, are specialized structures found at the end of an axon. These bulb-like endings are crucial for neuronal communication, serving as the point where a neuron transmits signals to another neuron or to a target cell, such as a muscle or gland. Within the aksonipäätte are numerous small sacs called synaptic vesicles. These vesicles contain neurotransmitters, which are chemical messengers that carry the signal across the synaptic cleft, the tiny gap between the aksonipäätte and the next cell.
When an electrical signal, or action potential, reaches the aksonipäätte, it triggers the release of these neurotransmitters
