Aksaysky

Aksaysky is an administrative district (raion) of Rostov Oblast, Russia. It is located in the western part of the oblast and borders several other districts within Rostov Oblast. The administrative center is the town of Aksay, which is incorporated separately as a town of oblast significance and serves as the district's administrative hub for local governance and services.

As a municipal division, Aksaysky District is incorporated as Aksaysky Municipal District and includes multiple rural settlements grouped into urban and rural municipalities. The district is characterized by steppe landscapes in the Don River basin, a continental climate, and a mix of agricultural and light-industrial activity. The economy relies mainly on agriculture—grain crops, vegetables, and livestock—supported by small-scale processing industries and service enterprises that serve the surrounding rural communities. Transportation in the district is provided by regional roads and proximity to rail and highway networks linking Rostov Oblast centers; Aksay acts as a local transport and commercial node for the district.

The name Aksaysky is derived from the town of Aksay; the adjective is used in the names of the district and its subdivisions. The district forms part of the Don region's historical and cultural landscape, sharing in the broader economic and demographic trends of western Rostov Oblast.
