Akrüülrühmä

Akrüülrühmä, also known as the acrylic group, refers to a chemical functional group characterized by a vinyl group (CH2=CH-) attached to a carbonyl group (C=O). This arrangement, with the formula CH2=CH−C(=O)−, imparts distinct chemical properties to molecules containing it. The presence of both the double bond and the carbonyl group makes akrüülrühmä highly reactive, particularly susceptible to addition reactions.

The vinyl group's electron-rich double bond readily participates in electrophilic addition reactions, while the carbonyl group's polar nature makes the adjacent carbon atom electrophilic, attracting nucleophiles. These include paints, coatings, adhesives, textiles, and superabsorbent polymers.
