Agglutinaatiosääntöjä refers to the rules governing agglutination in linguistics. Agglutination is a morphological process where a word is formed by joining multiple morphemes, each with a distinct grammatical meaning, in a linear fashion. These morphemes are typically clearly separable and retain their individual form and meaning, unlike in fusional languages where morphemes often merge and lose their distinctness.

In agglutinative languages, the meaning of a word is built up by adding affixes (prefixes, suffixes, infixes) to a root word. Each affix corresponds to a specific grammatical function such as tense, number, case, or person. For example, a single verb in an agglutinative language might have a root meaning "to walk," and then suffixes could be added to indicate past tense, third person singular, and a progressive aspect, all as separate, identifiable units.

The agglutinaatiosääntöjä dictate the order in which these morphemes can be attached to the root. There is often a fixed order, meaning that a specific suffix for tense will always precede a suffix for number, for instance. This predictability and regularity are characteristic of agglutinative languages. Exceptions to these rules are generally rare compared to fusional languages. Many Turkic, Finnic, and Uralic languages, as well as Japanese and Korean, are prime examples of agglutinative languages, showcasing a rich system of agglutinaatiosääntöjä.
