AfroJamaican
Afro-Jamaican refers to Jamaicans of African ancestry. The vast majority of the Jamaican population is of West African descent, with their ancestors being brought to the island during the period of the transatlantic slave trade. Enslaved Africans were primarily taken from the Gold Coast (present-day Ghana), the Bight of Benin, and the Bight of Biafra, bringing with them diverse cultural traditions, languages, and religions.
Over centuries, these African traditions blended with European influences, particularly from British colonialism, to form the
