Afferens
Afferens is a term used in biology and medicine, primarily to describe a structure or pathway that carries impulses or substances towards a central point or organ. In the context of the nervous system, afferent neurons, also known as sensory neurons, transmit signals from sensory receptors in the periphery to the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord). These signals can include touch, temperature, pain, and pressure. This afferent pathway is crucial for the body to perceive its environment and respond to stimuli.
