Adsorpsjonstørker

Adsorpsjonstørker are devices used for drying gases and liquids through the process of adsorption. They function by passing the fluid through a bed of a solid adsorbent material, such as silica gel, activated alumina, or molecular sieves. These materials have a porous structure with a large surface area, enabling them to attract and hold molecules of the fluid onto their surface. As the fluid flows through the adsorbent bed, water vapor or other contaminants are adsorbed, and the dried fluid exits the system.

Adsorpsjonstørker are commonly employed in various industrial applications where low dew points are critical. This includes compressed air drying for pneumatic systems, natural gas dehydration, and the drying of refrigerants. The effectiveness of an adsorpsjonstørker depends on factors like the type of adsorbent used, the flow rate of the fluid, temperature, and pressure. Over time, the adsorbent becomes saturated with the adsorbed substance and requires regeneration. Regeneration is typically achieved by heating the adsorbent bed or by purging it with a dry gas to release the adsorbed molecules, allowing the adsorbent to be reused.
