Adityanath

Adityanath is the current Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, India, and a prominent Hindu monastic leader. Born Ajay Mohan Bisht, he adopted the monastic name Adityanath. He is the Mahant (head priest) of the Gorakhnath Math, a prominent Hindu monastery in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.

Adityanath entered politics in the late 1990s and has represented the Gorakhpur constituency in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of India's Parliament, for multiple terms. He is associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

His political career has been marked by strong Hindutva ideology and a focus on issues such as cow protection and religious nationalism. He has also been a vocal critic of certain religious minorities and has made controversial statements in the past.

In 2017, he was appointed Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, a role he continues to hold. His tenure as Chief Minister has seen initiatives related to economic development, law and order, and infrastructure in the state. He remains a significant figure in Indian politics, often seen as a polarizing but influential leader.
