Absoluutviga refers to the absolute error in a measurement. It is the magnitude of the difference between the measured value and the true value, without regard to its sign. Mathematically, if 'x_measured' is the measured value and 'x_true' is the true value, the absolute error is calculated as |x_measured - x_true|.

Understanding absolute error is crucial in fields that rely on precise measurements, such as science, engineering, and manufacturing. It provides a direct indication of how far off a measurement is from the actual value. For example, if a thermometer reads 25.2 degrees Celsius when the actual temperature is 25.0 degrees Celsius, the absolute error is |25.2 - 25.0| = 0.2 degrees Celsius.

Absolute error is distinct from relative error, which expresses the error as a proportion of the true value. While absolute error gives the raw discrepancy, relative error provides context by considering the size of the quantity being measured. A small absolute error might be insignificant for a large measurement but substantial for a small one. Therefore, both absolute and relative errors are often reported together to give a complete picture of measurement accuracy. The units of absolute error are the same as the units of the measurement itself.
