Abflugmasse refers to the total weight of an aircraft at the moment it begins its takeoff run. This mass is a critical factor in aviation safety and performance. It includes the weight of the empty aircraft, the fuel, the crew, the passengers, and any cargo carried on board.

Several important mass limitations are defined in relation to the Abflugmasse. The Maximum Takeoff Weight (MTOW) is the highest permitted Abflugmasse specified by the aircraft's type certificate.
