AVAX

AVAX is the native cryptocurrency of Avalanche, a decentralized platform for launching and running decentralized applications and custom blockchains. Avalanche emphasizes high throughput, sub-second finality, and interoperability, aiming to support DeFi, enterprise use cases, and NFT ecosystems.

Built on the Avalanche consensus family, it supports parallel execution across three chains: the X-Chain handles asset transfers and implements the platform's original token model; the C-Chain hosts Ethereum-compatible smart contracts; the P-Chain coordinates validators and enables subnets. The C-Chain is EVM-compatible, allowing developers to deploy Ethereum-based dApps with minimal changes. Transactions are processed quickly with finality measured in seconds.

AVAX is the native token used for paying transaction fees, securing the network through staking, and participating in governance. The network has a capped supply of 720 million AVAX; 360 million AVAX minted at genesis and the remainder allocated to ecosystem funds and future incentives.

Staking: To participate as a validator, a minimum stake of 2,000 AVAX is required; delegators may stake any amount through participating validators.
