APCissä

APCissä refers to the Finnish national core curriculum. It is a framework that guides the objectives and content of education in Finnish comprehensive schools, upper secondary schools, and vocational education institutions. The current APCissä, known as the National Core Curriculum 2016, was developed to promote learning and well-being for all students.

The APCissä emphasizes transversal competencies, which are skills that are considered essential for lifelong learning and active participation in society. These include thinking and learning to learn, cultural competence, interaction and expression, taking care of oneself, and multiliteracy. The curriculum also highlights the importance of student-centered learning, active participation, and the development of critical thinking skills.

It provides guidelines for subject matter, pedagogical approaches, and assessment methods. The aim is to ensure a high-quality and equitable education system across Finland, allowing for local adaptation by municipalities and individual schools. The APCissä is regularly reviewed and updated to reflect societal changes and advancements in educational research.
