AIFC

The Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) is a financial hub and free economic zone in Astana, Kazakhstan, designed to attract international investment and develop financial services in Central Asia and the CIS. It aims to provide a stable, English-law-based regulatory framework and dispute resolution environment to support banking, capital markets, asset management, insurance, fintech, and professional services.

The AIFC operates under an independent regulatory framework administered by the AIFC Authority, with a court system that applies common law principles via the AIFC Court and a dedicated tribunal; there is also an international arbitration centre for commercial disputes. The governing law is primarily English common law and other commercial laws adapted for the centre's environment.

As a regional hub for financial services, the AIFC connects investors with Kazakhstan and regional markets, supports listings, funds, cross-border financing, and asset management, and fosters cooperation with international partners.

It forms part of Kazakhstan's strategy to diversify the economy and integrate with global financial markets, hosting financial institutions, law and accounting firms, and technology companies.

The centre provides office facilities, professional services, and a business-friendly ecosystem to enable cross-border activity under a rule-based system with English as the working language.
