AGM65B

AGM-65B is a variant of the AGM-65 Maverick missile, a U.S. air-to-ground tactical missile. The "B" designation signifies a specific seeker and guidance system. Unlike earlier variants that relied on infrared (IR) homing or laser guidance, the AGM-65B features a United States Air Force (USAF) designation of GBU-13/B. Its guidance system is based on electro-optical (EO) imaging, specifically a television (TV) seeker. This means the missile uses a TV camera in its nose to lock onto a visual target.

The AGM-65B's TV seeker requires the launch aircraft to maintain a visual line of sight to the target. Once the target is acquired and locked by the seeker, the missile is launched. The TV seeker then guides the missile to the target. This guidance method offers advantages in terms of target discrimination, especially in cluttered environments, compared to earlier unguided or simpler guided munitions. However, it is dependent on visual conditions and can be hampered by smoke, fog, or darkness. The AGM-65B has been employed on various U.S. Air Force and allied aircraft.
