ADAC

ADAC, short for Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club e.V., is a German automobile association founded in 1903 and based in Munich. It is one of Europe’s largest automobile clubs and acts as an umbrella organization for numerous local clubs across Germany. As a member-based organization, it provides services to motorists and travelers.

Membership includes roadside assistance, legal protection, travel planning, insurance products, and information services. The best-known service is the Gelbe Engel (Yellow Angel) roadside assistance, which offers breakdown recovery and on-site help.

ADAC conducts independent vehicle tests and equipment evaluations, publishes guides and ratings, and operates consumer information channels. It engages in road safety campaigns, driver education, and mobility initiatives, and publishes content through ADAC Motorwelt and digital platforms.

The ADAC Foundation (ADAC Stiftung) funds road safety programs and youth mobility initiatives. The organization also participates in public policy discussions on transport, traffic safety, and consumer protection in Germany and Europe.
