The 7A778 is a high-performance, single-engine, short to medium range airliner developed by the Russian aircraft manufacturer Irkut Corporation. It is designed to replace the aging Tupolev Tu-154 aircraft in the Russian Air Force and other operators. The 7A778 features a modern avionics suite, improved aerodynamics, and enhanced safety features.

The aircraft is powered by a single Soloviev D-30KP turbofan engine, which provides a thrust of 11,000 kilograms-force (25,000 lb).
