30002999
30002999 is a minor planet in the outer region of the asteroid belt, orbiting the Sun between Mars and Jupiter. It was discovered on October 13, 2000, by the Lincoln Near-Earth Asteroid Research (LINEAR) team at the Lincoln Laboratory's Experimental Test Site near Socorro, New Mexico. The asteroid is approximately 1.5 kilometers in diameter and has an orbital period of about 3.5 years. Its orbit is relatively stable, with a semi-major axis of approximately 2.6 astronomical units (AU) and an eccentricity of about 0.1. The asteroid's spectral type is classified as X, indicating a primitive composition, likely rich in carbonaceous materials. 30002999 is not considered a near-Earth object, as its orbit does not bring it close to Earth's path. It is named after the discoverer's institution, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Lincoln Laboratory.
