The 10-meter band, commonly referred to as the 10 meters, is a portion of the radio spectrum reserved for amateur radio use. It covers roughly 28.0 to 29.7 MHz, a range that is named for its approximate wavelength of about 10 meters. This band sits on the border between the HF region and VHF, allowing a mix of propagation styles and a range of operating modes.

Propagation on the 10-meter band is strongly influenced by solar activity and ionospheric conditions. When the sun is active, the F2 layer can reflect signals over great distances, enabling worldwide contacts. The band also exhibits Sporadic E propagation in certain seasons, particularly in spring and early summer, which can produce short-range, VHF-like skip. Conversely, during low solar activity or geomagnetic disturbances, long-range propagation can be limited and contacts are more local or line-of-sight. Digital modes such as FT8 and other weak-signal protocols, as well as traditional SSB and CW, are commonly used on this band, and meteor scatter or auroral propagation can occur under specific conditions.

Amateur operators use the 10-meter band with a variety of equipment and antennas. Transceivers with 10-meter capability, complemented by dipoles, verticals, beams, or other antennas, enable a wide range of operating styles, including mobile, portable, and base setups. Licensing and band plans vary by country, but in general, holders of an amateur radio license gain privileges to operate on the 10-meter band within applicable limits. The band is active in contests, field days, and emergency communications, reflecting its role as a versatile link between local and long-distance amateur activities.
