Äänikaiutin, commonly known as a loudspeaker or speaker, is an electroacoustic transducer that converts an electrical audio signal into a corresponding sound. It is a fundamental component in audio reproduction systems, enabling us to hear music, speech, and other sounds.

The basic principle of operation involves an electrical current, representing the audio signal, passing through a coil of wire. This coil is situated within a magnetic field, typically generated by a permanent magnet. The interaction between the magnetic field and the current creates a force that causes the coil to move. This movement is then transferred to a diaphragm, a flexible surface, which vibrates. These vibrations displace the surrounding air, creating pressure waves that we perceive as sound.

Loudspeakers come in various designs and sizes, each suited for different applications. Common types include cone speakers, dome tweeters, and ribbon speakers. The diaphragm shape, size, and material, along with the magnetic system and enclosure, all influence the speaker's frequency response, efficiency, and sound quality. They are essential in home stereo systems, portable music players, public address systems, and musical instruments.
