ínyvonal
Inyvonal is a term used in veterinary dentistry to describe the junction between the enamel and cementum on a tooth. This line is a crucial anatomical landmark, indicating the boundary of the tooth's protective outer layers. In healthy teeth, the gingiva, or gums, rests at or slightly coronal to the inyvonal. This relationship is vital for maintaining periodontal health. When the gums recede, the inyvonal becomes exposed, leading to a condition known as gingival recession. This exposure can result in tooth sensitivity and an increased risk of dental disease due to the less protected cementum being vulnerable to wear and decay. Veterinarians use the inyvonal as a reference point when assessing the health of a pet's gums and teeth, evaluating for signs of recession, inflammation, or other periodontal issues. Changes in its visibility and relationship to the gum line can be indicative of underlying dental problems requiring professional attention.
