äänipaineet
Äänipaineet, sometimes referred to as sound pressure, represents the deviation from atmospheric pressure caused by a sound wave. It is a fundamental characteristic of sound and is what our ears perceive as loudness. Sound waves propagate through a medium, such as air, by causing compressions and rarefactions of the particles within that medium. These compressions correspond to areas of higher than average pressure, and rarefactions to areas of lower than average pressure. The difference between the peak pressure during a compression and the ambient atmospheric pressure is the sound pressure.
The unit of measurement for sound pressure is the Pascal (Pa). However, due to the wide range
