Útblástur

Útblástur refers to the exhaust gases emitted from internal combustion engines, primarily in vehicles, but also in industrial machinery and power generation. This process is a byproduct of burning fossil fuels like gasoline, diesel, and natural gas. The composition of útblástur varies depending on the fuel type, engine efficiency, and the presence of emission control systems.

Key components of útblástur include carbon dioxide (CO2), a major greenhouse gas contributing to climate change, and water vapor. It also contains pollutants such as carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxides (NOx), unburned hydrocarbons (HC), and particulate matter (PM). These pollutants can have significant negative impacts on air quality and human health, leading to respiratory problems and other health issues.
