Yhdistämisreaktio, or combination reaction in English, is a fundamental chemical reaction where two or more reactants combine to form a single product. This type of reaction is also often referred to as a synthesis reaction. The general form of a combination reaction can be represented as A + B → AB, where A and B are the reactants and AB is the single product formed.

These reactions are common in both inorganic and organic chemistry. For instance, the formation of water from hydrogen and oxygen is a classic example of a combination reaction: 2H₂ + O₂ → 2H₂O. Another example is the reaction between a metal and a non-metal to form a salt, such as the formation of sodium chloride from sodium and chlorine: 2Na + Cl₂ → 2NaCl.
