Välittäjäbosoni, or gauge boson in English, is a fundamental particle in quantum field theory that mediates the electromagnetic, weak, and strong nuclear forces. These particles are responsible for the interactions between other fundamental particles.

There are four known types of gauge bosons. The photon is the gauge boson of the electromagnetic force, mediating interactions between electrically charged particles.
