Verineste is a coastal town and commune in the fictional nation of Caldera, situated along the Verin Strait on the eastern coast of the Calderan archipelago. It functions as a local market town and administrative center for the surrounding rural area.

The name is derived from Verin, an old Calderan root meaning "bright," with the suffix -este indicating a place of settlement.

The town covers roughly 12 square kilometers, with flat waterfront districts, a rocky hinterland, and a temperate climate influenced by sea currents.

First recorded as a trading post in the 12th century, Verineste grew through seafaring commerce and salt production. It endured periods of conflict during regional wars but remained a stable municipal center from the 16th century onward.

Today the economy relies on fishing, artisanal crafts, and tourism. The harbor accommodates small ferries and visiting yachts, while the weekly market attracts traders from nearby settlements.

Verineste hosts an annual Festival of Lanterns that celebrates maritime heritage; Verinese is the local language, with Italian and Aragonese influences in bilingual education.
