Velkaongelmaa is a region located in Southern Ostrobothnia, Finland. It is known for its distinctive geography and natural features. The area is situated in the southwestern part of the country, bordering the Gulf of Bothnia.

Geologically, Velkaongelmaa is composed primarily of bedrock underlying by glacial till. This sedentary bedrock covers much of the region and is a result of the last ice age. Studying this glacial till helps researchers understand the progression of continental ice masses in the past.

Velkaongelmaa is a relatively narrow region stretching between Lake Lampi and the coast of the Gulf of Bothnia. Its landscape is characterized by aspen and silver birch forests as well as fields and open heathlands. International trade and traffic use the main stretch of regional transport routes under regional Sirius railroad from Kokkola to Vaasa.
