Vasopressinregulated refers to physiological processes or cellular functions that are controlled or influenced by the hormone vasopressin, also known as antidiuretic hormone (ADH). Vasopressin is primarily produced by the hypothalamus and released by the posterior pituitary gland. Its main roles are regulating water reabsorption in the kidneys and influencing blood pressure.

In the kidneys, vasopressin binds to V2 receptors on the collecting ducts and distal tubules. This binding triggers the insertion of aquaporin-2 water channels into the apical membrane, increasing the permeability of these tubules to water. As a result, more water is reabsorbed from the filtrate back into the bloodstream, leading to a more concentrated urine and a decrease in water loss from the body. This vasopressinregulated water reabsorption is crucial for maintaining the body's hydration status and osmolarity.

Beyond its renal effects, vasopressin also acts on V1 receptors in the vasculature, causing vasoconstriction. This action contributes to raising blood pressure, particularly during states of hypovolemia or hypotension. Therefore, vasopressinregulated vascular tone is another important physiological function of this hormone. Disturbances in vasopressin regulation can lead to conditions like diabetes insipidus, characterized by excessive thirst and urination, or inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion syndrome (SIADH), where excessive water retention occurs.
