Trombocitaszám refers to the count of platelets, also known as thrombocytes, in a person's blood. Platelets are tiny, irregular-shaped cell fragments produced in the bone marrow that play a crucial role in blood clotting. When a blood vessel is injured, platelets aggregate at the site of damage and form a plug to stop bleeding. They also release substances that promote the coagulation cascade, further solidifying the clot.

A normal trombocitaszám typically ranges from 150,000 to 400,000 platelets per microliter of blood. Deviations from this range can indicate underlying health issues.
