Timanttipyramidia refers to a unique geological formation located in Finland, noted for its pyramidal shape and diamond-bearing quartz crystal outcrops. This distinctive feature is one of several such formations to be discovered in the Kiiluvaara area of the Kainuu region. The rocks comprising Timanttipyramidia are primarily made up of granodiorite and gneiss, formed through the metamorphism of older rocks.

Dating of the samples from the site has yielded a Proterozoic age, placing it within the Vedda Group of rocks. This corresponds to a period around 2 billion years ago, during the time when the Precambrian supercontinent of Laurentia was beginning to break apart. Characteristic here, the Precambrian rocks of the region underwent intense termal alterations, giving rise to a realm of red-bed sediments above which the igneous rocks like the one we see here were uplifted.

The economic value of this rock formation is mainly attributed to the occurrence of accessible diamond-bearing ore. These deposits were first discovered in the 18th century. Mineral extraction in the region is particularly noted for occurrences of apatite, tourmaline, and granular quartz crystals. Timanttipyramidia is considered an exemplary example of the unpredictable, brightly-colored gemstone deposits that characterize the region's attractive geological history.
