tidende

Tidende is a term used in Danish and Norwegian to denote news or tidings. In common usage, tidende is considered archaic in modern Norwegian and Danish, where the current standard words for newspaper are avis in Norwegian and dagblad or avis in Danish; nevertheless Tidende survives as a legacy in the names of newspapers and publications. Since the 18th century, the word has been used in the titles of several periodicals, especially in Denmark, to signal a publication that provides news content.
