tetraquarkët

Tetraquarks are exotic hadrons composed of four quarks. Unlike the familiar mesons (two quarks) and baryons (three quarks), tetraquarks represent a more complex arrangement of the fundamental constituents of matter. The quark model, which successfully describes many known particles, predicts the existence of such exotic states. Tetraquarks can be formed in various combinations of quark flavors and spins. For example, a tetraquark could consist of two quarks and two antiquarks, or two diquarks (bound states of two quarks).

The existence of tetraquarks has been a subject of theoretical investigation for decades. Experimental searches for these particles have yielded promising candidates in recent years. The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN, among other particle accelerators, has observed several unexpected resonances that are consistent with the properties expected for tetraquarks. These observations have invigorated the field of hadron spectroscopy and provided valuable data for refining our understanding of the strong nuclear force, which binds quarks together. Studying tetraquarks offers a unique opportunity to probe the complex interactions within the nucleus and explore the boundaries of the Standard Model of particle physics.
