The volume of a tetrahedron can be calculated using the formula V = (1/3) * A * h, where A is the area of the base and h is the perpendicular height from the apex to the base. For a regular tetrahedron with edge length 'a', the volume is given by V = (a^3) / (6 * sqrt(2)).
