telluroxide
Telluroxide is a chemical compound with the formula TeO2. It is a white, crystalline solid that is insoluble in water but soluble in acids. Telluroxide is a member of the group 16 chalcogen oxides, which also includes sulfur dioxide (SO2) and selenium dioxide (SeO2). It is prepared by the oxidation of tellurium with oxygen or by the thermal decomposition of tellurium dioxide (TeO2) in a vacuum.
The structure of telluroxide is similar to that of sulfur dioxide, with a linear Te=O double bond.
Telluroxide is a strong oxidizing agent and can react with reducing agents to form tellurium(IV) compounds.
